CBSE payment system to be improved after glitches, Dharmendra Pradhan meets bank officials

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to improve its payment gateway system after many students and parents reported problems during online payments. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held meetings with senior officials of major public sector banks to discuss ways to fix the system and prevent future payment troubles.

The move comes after complaints about failed transactions, extra money being deducted and technical glitches while students were applying for services such as scanned copies of Class 12 answer sheets.

To solve these problems, the Education Ministry has asked banks to work with CBSE and build a stronger, safer and faster payment system.

Minister meets bank officials

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan recently held discussions with senior officials from four major public sector banks. These included State Bank of India (SBI), Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank and Indian Bank.

The main purpose of the meeting was to improve CBSE’s payment gateway system, which had faced technical issues in recent days.

Many students and parents had complained about payment failures, delayed transactions and extra money being deducted while making online payments for answer sheet services.

After reviewing the matter, the minister directed banks to support CBSE in creating better payment protocols.

In simple words, this means the banks will help CBSE build a safer and more reliable system for online payments.

The minister said students and families should not suffer because of technical failures.

He asked the banks to help ensure that transactions happen smoothly and that problems are fixed quickly whenever they arise.

Better refund system planned

One of the biggest concerns raised by students was extra money being deducted during online payments.

To address this, the Education Minister asked banks to help CBSE create systems that can automatically refund excess or failed payments.

This means that if extra money is deducted by mistake or a payment fails after money has been charged, students may receive refunds more quickly.

Officials were also asked to improve real-time monitoring systems.

Real-time monitoring means payment issues can be detected immediately rather than after several days.

If there is a technical problem, officials may be able to respond faster and reduce inconvenience for students and parents.

The government also wants stronger complaint-handling systems, known as grievance redressal mechanisms.

This will allow students and parents to report issues more easily and receive quicker support.

The goal is to make the payment process smooth, transparent and stress-free.

Earlier, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had also discussed payment-related issues with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to find better solutions.

CBSE to refund extra money

CBSE has already announced refunds for students whose extra money was deducted while applying for scanned copies of Class 12 answer sheets.

According to a CBSE notification, technical issues on May 21 and May 22, 2026 caused payment mistakes during online applications.

In some cases, students paid more than required. In other cases, students were charged less than the correct amount.

CBSE admitted that payment problems occurred due to technical issues in the system.

The board said students who paid extra money will receive refunds.

The refunded amount will be sent back to the same payment method that was originally used, such as bank accounts, cards or digital payment services.

This process is expected to happen automatically.

For students who paid less than the required amount, CBSE said separate communication will be sent if additional payment becomes necessary.

The board wants to ensure students do not face confusion or unnecessary financial loss.

Problems in answer sheet evaluation

Apart from payment problems, CBSE has also admitted mistakes in the evaluation of some Class 12 answer sheets.

Several students had raised complaints after checking their results and answer copies.

According to reports, discrepancies were found in some answer sheets.

After reviewing the complaints, CBSE reportedly sent corrected answer books to affected students.

The board also informed students that marks would be updated if errors were confirmed during rechecking.

This means some students may receive revised marks after corrections are completed.

For many students, this update is important because Class 12 marks often affect college admissions and future academic opportunities.

Because of this, students and parents have closely followed the issue.

Re-evaluation process begins

CBSE has also announced the schedule for Class 12 verification of marks and re-evaluation.

Students who are not satisfied with their results can apply for verification of marks and re-evaluation online.

The application window opened on May 26, 2026.

Students can submit requests until May 29 through the official CBSE website.

Verification of marks allows students to check whether marks were added correctly and whether any mistakes happened during evaluation.

Re-evaluation means answers can be checked again to ensure marks were given properly.

Many students use this process when they feel their performance in the exam was better than the marks they received.

CBSE hopes the process will help students feel more confident about the fairness of their results.

Focus on student convenience

The recent developments show that the government and CBSE are trying to reduce stress for students and parents.

Online payment problems created frustration, especially during an important time when students were checking results and applying for answer copies.

By involving banks, improving technology and promising automatic refunds, officials hope future payment experiences will become smoother.
